Update 12/2/25: Thanks to generous offline donations, we surpassed our initial goal of $50,000! We’re blown away by the support and are raising our goal to $75,000. Can you help us bridge this final gap?
Since Autonomy News launched in June, our worker-owned newsroom has done fearless reporting covering anti-abortion activists and the disinformation they spread, as well as how a major reproductive rights organization considered drastic change in response to federal attacks. We scooped the New York Times and our reporting has been cited by The Guardian, Talking Points Memo, Crooked Media’s Hysteria podcast, and more.
Autonomy News believes that information about bodily autonomy should never be behind a paywall. We also chose to launch with deeply reported stories as a proof of concept rather than announcing a fundraiser and starting months later. These felt like the right things to do given the urgency of the moment, though it means we worked for free in our pre-launch phase and we publish part-time while finding other ways to pay our bills.
We now have hundreds of subscribers, with nearly 20% of them sustaining us with yearly or monthly paid subscriptions. We’ve been so grateful for this support, and for the enthusiasm for independent journalism. While paid subscriptions remain a core part of our model, we’re now asking for more substantial support to help us do this work full-time.
Help us make our work sustainable by making a tax-deductible gift to Tiny News Collective—our fiscal sponsor—on behalf of Autonomy News.
Please note that we disclose all contributions of at least $1,000 on our acknowledgements page.
Help Us Reach Our Stretch Goal of $75,000!
